Stephen is a 53 year old man who uses a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury. Disability Network Southwest Michigan coordinated a ramp build for Stephen using Ramp Up funds as well as funding from United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region and a volunteer youth group at First United Methodist Church in Kalamazoo.
Stephen was very excited about getting a ramp. When the ramp was completed Stephen was grinning ear to ear as he came down his new ramp, hands in the air saying “You have set me free!”
