RAMP-A-THON: Nancy

woman in wheelchair on a ramp with her petsNancy is 65 years old and lives with her husband in a home they have owned for 17 years. Nancy uses a walker in her home and a wheelchair when she leaves the house. She has not been able to get outside on her own for over a year.

Using funds from our Ramp Up program, as well as grant funds from United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region, Disability Network Southwest Michigan coordinated a ramp build with Impact Kalamazoo, a group of adult and youth volunteer builders. Right away Nancy was outdoors on the ramp; she brought her dogs and parakeets outside with her to enjoy the fresh air.
