Holly is a Program Development Coordinator for Independent Living Services. Read below to learn what Holly loves about her work and the people she works with.
After graduating from college I started working with foster kids. Throughout this work, I was amazed by the number of youth who were struggling with their own disabilities but were simply being shuffled through the system. I wanted to help by being proactive instead of reactive. This is when I came to Disability Network Southwest Michigan.
Meeting people where they are, learning about their own plans for their success and walking alongside them is what brings me joy. I have always had a heart that desires to serve. Continued education and training opportunities help to keep my toolbox full and up to date so that I can best serve my customers. The barriers that people with disabilities encounter when attempting to obtain independence and employment are outrageous. This motivates me to work hard to assist them in their process and advocate for justice. My customers have taught me so much more than I could ever reciprocate. I am humbled and honored to do the work that we do. I am inspired by the resilience, passion and dedication of people with disabilities.
