Volunteers Help Us Stretch Your Donation Dollars

RAMP-A-THON supports our Ramp Up program which builds or purchases ramps for people with mobility disabilities in Southwest Michigan. One way we make the most of every dollar donated to RAMP-A-THON is to utilize volunteer builders. We have a small core of highly skilled volunteers who supervise various volunteer groups to build ramps throughout our eight-county service area.

Recently, a youth group from First United Methodist Church – Kalamazoo worked together under the supervision of a licensed contractor to build a ramp for Alan, a young man with cerebral palsy who uses a wheelchair. This was a symbiotic opportunity for both Alan and the youth group. Alan received a ramp on his home which allows him to access his community as he transitions from high school to living independently and the youth group worked on their building and team-building skills which they will use during their upcoming annual mission trip focused on a construction project for a family in need.

We appreciate all of our volunteers who help us leverage your RAMP-A-THON donations by allowing us to spend those dollars on materials for more ramps in our community. No donation is too big or too small! Please use the button below to make your on-line donation or contact Kristen Potts (269-345-1516 x119) in our Kalamazoo office for other donation methods.
